Quotations on blogging

"When you have nothing to say, say nothing"
- Charles Caleb Colton

"Sit down to write what you have thought and not to think what you shall write"
- William Cobbett

"You don't write because you want to say something; you write because you've got to say something"
- F. Scott Fitzgerald

"Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self."
- Cyril Connolly

OK, so they weren't specifically for blogging, I just decided that. They're taken from a book "Never let a fool kiss you or a kiss fool you" by Dr. Mardy Grothe, a book I purchased at LAX airport many moons ago.

I'm and avid collector of quotes. Especially now that I've found the best web 2.0 quote site around: www.quotiki.com. It even gives you a widget that can feed your own selected quotes. (see at the bottom of this post, after the polls et. al)

I think I like quotes so much because they also abide by the minimalism philosophy. A good one-sentence quote can contain as much (nay, more) wisdom than a 300 page tome. It's just distilled wisdom, the nugget less the ore.

PS: WBF - I'll most definitely be answering your excellent questions in the next few days.

  1. Hi. This comment is not in response to your post, but rather to your website and my life with 'bipolarism'. I'm 20, Irish, and a drama student. Grief from bereavement and anxiety over my sexuality are prominent factors for my condition. I also experiment with 'drugs', be they substances, people, ideas. What I feel may help you on your journey is the concept of the 'bodymind'. I was introduced to it by a teacher who, in turn, introduced me to information on theatre practitioner, Philip Zarilli. His essays have helped me. They may help you.

    1. Please disregard my comment as I am not 'bipolar', however the concept of the 'bodymind' has been useful in treatment of my depression and anxiety since I posted the above comment. I would still highly recommend Philip Zarilli's essays. Thank you!!!
