"Bipolar disorder (previously known as manic depression) is a psychiatric diagnostic category describing a class of mood disorders in which the person experiences clinical depression and/or mania, hypomania, and/or mixed states. The disorder can cause great distress among those afflicted and those living with them. Left untreated, bipolar disorder can be a disabling condition, with a high risk of death through suicide."
"The difference between bipolar disorder and unipolar disorder (also called major depression) is that bipolar disorder involves both elevated and depressive mood states. The duration and intensity of mood states varies widely among people with BiPolar disorder. Fluctuating from one mood state to the next is called "cycling". Mood swings can cause impairment or improved functioning depending on their direction (up or down) and severity (mild to severe). There can be changes in one's energy level, sleep pattern, activity level, social rhythms and cognitive functioning. Some people with Bipolar disorder may have difficulty functioning during these times."

Y do you ask? Y do you need to know? Y Oh Y is Y so important to You?
ReplyDeleteBipolar Guy comes to a Y in the road and doesn't know which way to go to reach his Nirvana. There are two wise men at the Y, one of whom always tells the truth while the other always lies. BPG doesn't know which is which, though. He may ask one of the men only one question to find his way. Which man does he ask, and what is the question?
Will BPG find his way and can anyone help him?
BPG knows which Ys man to ask to get the right answer, but then again, it could be 2 V's as in the Lady of Virtue and the Lady of Vice.
ReplyDeleteI think I know Y... but what happened to the X?
ReplyDeleteAmanda don't worry I never forgot the X
ReplyDeleteEither man should be asked the following question: "If I were to ask you if this is the way I should go, would you say yes?" While asking the question, BPG should be pointing at either of the directions going from the Y.
ReplyDeleteWill BPG reach his Nirvana now?
What if what we call bipolar is just a hormonal imbalance? The sleep issues certainly point to that direction.
