Coming Down

I'm talking physically here - feels like I'm getting flu. Although for me any physical sickness invariably translates to mood downs too. Do you other BiPolars find this? Sure, I mean everybody gets a bit downcast when they're not well, but with me it kicks in particularly harsh.

Generally I seldom get sick (excluding the head of course). There are probably a couple causes for this one. First, Cape Town's weather has switched overnight. 4 days ago we were sleeping just about naked; now it's long pyjamas. It kinda catches your body off gaurd. 2: The re-uptake of nicotine a few weeks back has not helped. My colds always start with a scratchy throat, and I smoked aplenty yesterday.

So I've dosed up with Vitamen C and some of mrs M's natural antibiotics, and hopefully I'll nip it in the bud.

I've got a long list of topics I want to write about in the coming weeks. (I keep a list whenever an idea comes to mind. Sound familiar?) Here are a few ideas:

  • Overidentification with BiPolar
  • Drugz, Divination and Disorders
  • Dopamine
  • Free Will
  • A review of "Blogging for Dummies"
  • A review of "BiPolar for Dummies"
  • Philosophic Counsellors as a therapy option
  • Hereditary BiPolar
  • Weed Part 4
  • Daily swings
  • Missing the mania

In other words: Stay tuned.

  1. Wow! Is there really a 'Bipolar for Dummies?' I am thinking of checking on Amazon.com to find it. Absolutely the bipolar kicks in for me when I am sick. If my body can no longer hold up it means I have even less energy to maintain my emotions. It's a drain all over.

  3. The more I read your blog, the more & more I like it. Your writing style sticks with a topic & I don't find myself getting lost in it.
As for getting sick/ getting depressed, no, I don't really notice that with myself. But I'm a big baby when it comes to being sick.
I like all those topics & can't wait to read about them.

  6. It can hit me pretty hard, particularly if I have to use my inhaler. Then I have all the crankiness of a fevered depression combined with the I-am-going-to-rip-the-bag-out-of-the-wind anger of mania.

Nasty time to be around me.
