Cape Point

Headed down to Cape Point today (about 50 kms South of where we stay) and got out into some fresh air. The actual end of the peninsula (middle picture below) is close to where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Here some pics from the day:

The mood has definitley lifted, but the real acid test comes tomorrow. Motherstickin' Monday.

  1. Life is always better with a change of scenery and some fresh air. When it comes to your scenery there can't be much better. Play the Boomtown Rats song, "Tell me why I don't like Mondays"...allways a good description of Mondays! (Note this song is a reference to a USA schoolgirl who went "Postal") Fortunately you work on your own!!

  2. It was actually the original Columbine, nothing postal about it. Americans always seem to think these sorts of things are caused by the latest fad, such as Marilyn Manson, when in fact they've been going on for decades. It was a hit in the late seventies but banned in the States. Canadians became quite fond of it, though.

So you're actually closer to the South Pole than to New York City. I wonder which is warmer in winter.

  3. It was NOT banned in the US, it was very popular. I am pretty sure it was titled, "I don't like Mondays" here. (though they repeatedly plead "Tell me why" througout the song.)

Brenda Spencer stole her father's rifle and opened fire on her high school as it opened in California, injuring 8 students and killing the principal and custodian. When asked later why she did it, she said, "I hate Mondays."

I have it on MP3 and it is practically my anthem. I really DO hate Mondays, and I don't understand why.

BPG, buck up as best you can... it will get better, something I try to remind myself every day.

P.S. Kodeureum, winter in South Africa is summer in New York City... the question is unanswerable.

  6. Thanks for the info, dreaming image. I always thought it was banned. Perhaps it was in the UK, as they have always had much stricter gun control.

As for the colder in winter question, what I really meant to ask is this: which is colder in January, New York City or the South Pole?
