BOOK LAUNCH

posted by Keegan W.

BPG (with a lot of help from Mrs M.) has had his 3rd book published - "BIPOLAR. BLOGGED."

I've known about this project of his for a while, but didn't want to mention it until it was complete. Today I received my fresh, shiny copy delivered to my doorstep courtesy of the good people at lulu.com. (see pic above). It rocks!

Here's a snippet from the back cover:

"BiPolar Guy, a BiPolar Disorder sufferer living in Cape Town started blogging about his daily experiences in late 2005. The blog quickly built up a community of readers, mostly other BiPolars sharing their own struggles and support. This book is a direct copy of the best selected posts in that blog. Comments by the community of readers are included giving the writings a very authentic blogosphere feel. The book is organized in themed sections, covering topics such as:

  • THINGS THAT HELP
  • TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
  • MEDS
  • SUBSTANCE (AB)USE
  • BLACKEST DAYS
  • MANIC(EST) DAYS
  • BIPOLAR CYCLING
  • ON BLOGGING

Sometimes heart-breaking, sometimes hilarious and sometimes, yes, insane, this is essential reading for anyone living with this increasingly prevalent mood disorder (or those living with them). And anybody else grappling with the greater meaning of this life on earth. People that want an introduction to the world of blogs (maybe even considering starting their own), will also benefit from reading this book."

Full info on the book can be found here:

Other Issues:
I see the comment section of this blog has slumped into some kind of ongoing flame war. BPG warned me about this. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to be doing about it - I'm just waiting for BPG to get back from a trip he took to the Southern Cape, so we can throw some ideas around.

  1. if it wasn't for the flame wars in your comments section, your book would be boring as all fuck.

that said, i didn't say the book isn't boring.

this is my last comment to you, because i wouldn't want to have your middle name keegan here freak out as well.

here's what you need to do if you ever hope to get over your bipolar hump in this lifetime.

    1. get away from ALL bipolars (online and offline) who "take responsibility" for their illness.

what you refer to as taking responsibility in actuality means self-pity and constant wallowing in a so called disease while attached to soft-living.

because you're so attached to intellectually funny sounding words, i have this for you:

"...if a race or stock or species has once become enfeebled by soft living and a belief that it is owed easy living, then while physically such individuals may later adapt to a vigorous use of themselves, mentally this is almost impossible except for very few of the most flexible. self-pity will be their disease - a disease of the will, not of the flesh..." - this is from whoever made the representative of planet 8.

less than this problem, but nevertheless a huge one in itself:

if a being has once become enfeebled by BELIEVING it is ill and a belief that it is owed easy healing by an outside means (ie, involving soft living), then while physically such individuals may later adapt to a [perhaps] vigorous use of themselves, mentally this is almost impossible except for the very few of the most flexible. self-pity will be their disease - a disease of the will that will soon enough translate into a disease of the flesh. - paraphrased for you by evil and insensitive z0tl.

    2. get off ALL your meds gently but surely (without dragging your feet along at all) while in parallel developing methods to channel energy from your head downward into your body.

    these methods are meditation:

i recommend you start with youtube.com/SFjane's meditation videos and stick with her taoist water method.

what i used to fix myself is rinzai zazen, however that is a fire method and fighting fire (mania) with a fire method can result in unexpected results and not everyone is cut to handle that, ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TEACHER. pick shikantaza if you want, but you MUST put your awareness into your HARA.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FUCK AROUND WITH CHAKRA MEDITATION.

DO NOT KEEP YOUR AWARENESS ANYWHERE ELSE BUT IN YOUR BELLY.

IF YOU PLAY AROUND WITH 3RD EYE (mental) or HEART (emotional) MEDITATIONS, YOU WILL END UP TAKEN AWAY BY WHITECOATS.

WITH OR WITHOUT TEACHER TO SUPERVISE YOU.

in terms of excercising to keep your chemicals nicely distributed around and, more importantly, your energies flowing, do the 16 moves WU STYLE tai chi chuan taught by Bruce Frantzis (SFjane's mentor).

the DVD is available for $20 at energyarts.com and if you can't afford it because you're not selling more than 2 books of the blog bullshit mental masturbation you came up with, i will send it to you for free, just email me.

with that, i'm signing off your blog but will always be available to you via email (z 0 t l@y a h o o) or in person if you should ever drop by.

take care of yourself and goodspeed.

Well done Chris about time !!!!
    Will order it today.

Hey zOtl come out of your self imposed exile.

This BP issue doesn't hover on some linear plain with the meds as the pilot.

The more dimensions added to the debate, the better.

Seems like some even want to go manual and use farm tools :)))

An ancient alien probe, maybe ?

Yes, flame wars are great fun - so long as you're not the one getting burnt on a daily basis.

Congratulations BPG! Thanks for posting it Keegan.

It's a shame about the catfights. Or should I say...dogfights?

It's a shame the Z has such an alienating manner. I actually agree with some of the stuff he says.

Yeah, it's quite sad that whoever reads this book will never be able to come here and see it live in action.

Like the paper version killed the blog.

  21. Is 20 your special number? Well, I just messed it up for you, because 21 is one of my my special numbers. So there!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not to worry. 22 is pretty special to me too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 23 is REALLY special.. go see the film!

The film is rubbish but that does not make the number any less special LOL

  24. While worried at first, I know realize the desertion of this blog is a VERY good sign.

Good for you guys. Enjoy that life!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Actually, I see that: you published a book and then abandoned the people who allowed it to become a reality.

    That's somewhat lame, yo.

  26. This is cool! I've been off blogs and onto that horrid suckage known as facebook under the other identity.
this is way cool, BPG. Congrats on book.

  27. zotl your an idiot, this blog has been awe inspiring, the only thing that has had any connection or true understanding of BP. it is true that people cannot forever wallow in self pity and to forget the illness is the ultimate goal but what of someone who has just crashed from the manic phase they firmly believed was an awakening an end to the purgutory, the rest of his life. crashing around people who have simply passed you off as a nutter, you need people who understand, even if they are the other side of the world and have never met u, not to wallow j to relate, good luck to all peacelove 7 21 14 16 29 11 (lol, sillyness)
